Church Farm House, Wiltshire
Residential
In the heart of a conservation area this extension substantially extends a family home; balancing an ambitious brief with the historic evolution of the property and its mature landscape
We have been appointed to substantially re model and extend this family home in Wiltshire so that it can continue to support the family’s changing needs.
Through an iterative process we worked with the family to rationalise and distil their brief, balancing this with the context and form of the existing house, its development over time and nearby buildings, three of which are listed. The principle objective being to create an energy efficient and appropriate addition to the existing house and a new element that reflects how and when it was made. The buildings sit within the village conservation area and the mature landscape.
The internal modifications complete the transformation, integrating the spaces within the new extension with the old house around an enlarged open family kitchen and informal dining area.
