Chart Street, London

A substantial reconfiguration of this family home, transforming the ground and lower ground floors and drawing out a near two-storey extension. A glazed top and side allows light to flood in

We have been appointed to substantially re-model this family home in the centre of London, transforming the ground and lower ground floors.

The stairs leading to the lower ground floor will be reconfigured to create a straight flight leading directly from the entrance hall to the kitchen, pushing out a near two-storey extension with a glazed top and side allowing light to flood into the new stair and the lower ground floor.

The floor level of the entire lower ground floor will be lowered to equal the generous ground floor ceiling heights. Facing the garden, 3m high sliding glazed doors will slide back into a concealed pocket, opening the kitchen and dining space directly onto the garden and allowing light to flood in to what is currently a dark and under used space. Above, a new external but secluded and private terrace is to be formed on the roof of the lower section of the extension.
